The hostess/sommelier then served the wine but had opened it at the nearby service area…no big deal but not what happens in fine dining restaurants serving the majority of wines here over $100 per bottle. We asked for them to be taken back and served after we had our wine. The bottle of wine did not come for awhile and before it did our first courses arrived. The hostess came over and acted as sommelier and took our wine order.

People either had more tables than they could handle or were just not properly trained or experienced for this kind of setting. You expect a very high level of attentive high touch service in a restaurant like this but that was not the case. We were seated presented with menus, placed an order for a bottle of wine and. The room is very attractive as advertised. We had high hopes for this first visit to Le Pavillon as we have had mostly good experiences at other Daniel Boulud restaurants.
